Time to say goodbye to your old Cat
Eventually the older cat sleeps more and more, and is increasingly reluctant to exercise. He may drink lots of fluids, but take little food. While he is able to function normally, if only in this modified way, he is probably quite contented. If his bladder and bowels begin to fail and he is unable to eat, you must seek veterinary advice, for the only humane thing to do in these circumstances is to have the old cat put to sleep, allowing him to die painlessly and with dignity. It is the last kind thing you can do for a much-loved companion and friend.

Bereavement

When a companion animal dies, or his death is imminent, this often has a huge impact on those humans who loved and cared for him. Losing a much- loved pet is just the same for many owners as coping with the death of a family member or close friend. Individual people deal with this trauma in different ways, but all or some of the stages of grief that are often encountered, are shown on the checklist.
