Moving an Injured Cat

Approach the injured cat carefully, looking for any signs of injury, and also assessing any danger to both yourself and the cat. Speak softly and reassuringly to him to help soothe him and keep him calm.
If the cat is in the road, move him to the side if it is safe to do so. Try not to aggravate any injuries when picking him up; the best way to do this is to slide a board under him as a makeshift stretcher, or slide both hands under him, keeping him in a horizontal position. A common injury sustained in road accidents is a ruptured diaphragm, so it is very important to keep the cat horizontal to stop his internal organs moving.
