Ideal Weight for your cat
Cats, like humans, vary greatly in size and conformation. The average adult weight of a cat is around 4-5kg (9-111b); a small cat may weigh only 2.5kg (51b 8oz) and a large oneI as much as 5.5kg (121b). Savannah Cats average 6 kilograms but can be several kilograms larger. Your vet will be able to tell you what your cat's ideal weight should be, and any deviation from this should be closely monitored. Obese cats have a shorter life expectancy than those of correct weight, as carrying extra weight puts strain on the heart and limbs. Weight loss can indicate internal disease, or a parasite or pancreatic problem.
